1. About us

Kolkata Tea (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an India-based seller of single-origin teas, operating out of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. We sell loose-leaf Darjeeling teas and curated sample packs through this website to customers within India.

2. Eligibility

You may use this website and place orders only if you are at least 18 years of age and competent to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. By placing an order you confirm that the information you provide is correct and that you are buying for personal, lawful use.

3. Products and pricing

• All prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
• Product photographs are illustrative. Actual leaf appearance may vary slightly between harvests.
• We reserve the right to correct typographical errors in price or description and to refuse or cancel any order placed at an incorrect price, with a full refund where payment has been collected.

4. Placing an order

When you submit the order form on this website, you make an offer to buy the selected products. The contract is formed only after our team contacts you within 24 hours to confirm the order, agree the final amount, and arrange payment. We may decline an order at our discretion, for example if a product is out of stock, the delivery address falls outside our serviceable area, or there are concerns about fraud.

5. Payment

Payment is collected after order confirmation through one of the following:

• UPI (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM and similar apps)
• IMPS / NEFT bank transfer
• Card payments via a secure payment link sent over WhatsApp or email
• Cash on Delivery for select Kolkata pin codes, where available

We do not store card or UPI details on our servers. Card payments are processed by regulated payment service providers governed by RBI guidelines.

6. Shipping and delivery

• We ship within India through India Post and partner couriers. Once dispatched, you will receive a tracking number on email or WhatsApp.
• Indicative delivery times: 1–3 business days within Kolkata, 3–5 business days for major Indian cities, and 5–8 business days for other parts of India. These are estimates and not guaranteed.
• Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery to the address provided. Please check your parcel before signing for it where possible.

7. Cancellations, returns and refunds

• You may cancel an order free of charge before it is dispatched by writing to hello@kolkatatea.com.
• Damaged, defective or incorrect items: please report within 48 hours of delivery with a photograph. We will replace the item or refund the amount paid for that item, at your choice.
• We do not accept returns of opened packs for hygiene and quality-control reasons. A sealed pack with a genuine manufacturing defect can be returned within 7 days.
• Refunds are processed within 7 working days from the date the issue is verified, to the original payment method.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including the Kolkata Tea logo, product images, text, layout and design — is owned by Kolkata Tea or used with permission and is protected under Indian copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, reproduce or use it for commercial purposes without prior written consent.

9. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• Use the website for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any Indian law.
• Attempt to access, probe, or disrupt our systems, including via automated scraping, bots or denial-of-service techniques.
• Submit false personal information or impersonate another person.
• Upload or transmit any virus, malware or other harmful code.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

We take care to describe our products accurately, but we do not warrant that the website will always be error-free, available without interruption, or that any specific tea will suit your individual taste. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of an order is limited to the amount actually paid by you for the relevant order.

11. Privacy

Information you share with us is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or your use of the website is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Before approaching a court, you agree to first attempt to resolve the dispute by writing to us at hello@kolkatatea.com and giving us a reasonable period to respond.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page along with the date it was last updated. Your continued use of the website after a change is taken to be acceptance of the updated terms.
